Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin took part in the opening of innovative schools BINOM and Quantum STEM School in Nur-Sultan.
BINOM School is a new brand for the introduction of advanced methods in the Kazakhstani educational process. In 2021-2022, 6 schools of this format will be opened in the capital. Each educational institution is designed for 4 thousand students in two shifts. The training is organized on the basis of the domestic model and advanced international systems of Finland, Great Britain and South Korea. The project is being implemented on the principle of public-private partnership by the BI Group holding together with the Akimat of Nur-Sultan.
Each BINOM school with an area of over 22,000 sq. m is equipped with 127 classrooms, 9 extended laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, nano- and biotechnology, a cinema for 100 seats, coworking areas for teachers and children, a TV studio, playrooms, smart classrooms, a 3D printer for creative experiments, robotics classrooms, metal and wood carving workshops, Speaking Club, TedxBinom, as well as a library that contains more than 5 thousand popular publications of Kazakhstani and foreign writers. At the same time, a comfortable learning environment for children with special educational needs has been created: lifts for students with limited mobility, ramps, lifts, adjustable height of tables and desks, tactile stripes, etc.
The Head of Government met with the school teachers. The selection of teachers for BINOM took place on the largest Internet platform Jumys Smart Nation. According to the results of a two-stage competitive selection, 300 teachers from all over the republic were admitted to the school.
The first innovative private school Quantum STEM School, opened in the capital, is designed for 1,020 places. The school is based on the best practices of the best educational methods of education in Singapore and the United States with in-depth study of the disciplines of mathematics, science and engineering — along with general subjects, students master the courses of the Integrated Engineering Program, sports programming, aircraft modeling, etc. In the near future it is planned to build 20 Quantum STEM Schools throughout the country.
“It is necessary to increase the construction of innovative educational institutions based on the model of public-private partnership, as well as develop a network of private schools. The projects of creating advanced educational institutions implemented jointly with business will become a model for the formation of new standards of secondary education,” Mamin said.
As part of the implementation of the electoral program of the Nur Otan party, 800 new schools will be commissioned in the country from 2021 to 2025. This year, it is planned to commission 200 schools, of which 163 schools are due to targeted construction, 6 schools — through PPP mechanism, and 31 schools — through the development of a network of private schools.
The opening of 200 schools this year will make it possible, on a priority basis, to solve the problems of emergency schools, three-shift schools and reduce the shortage of student places.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Roman Sklyar and Yeraly Tugzhanov, Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, Minister of Healthcare Alexey Tsoy, Akim of Nur-Sultan Altay Kulginov and others.
