The main events of the week from Dec. 18 to 21, 2019

  • At the regular Government session, the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Education and Science for 2016-2019 and the project until 2025 were considered. The prime minister of Kazakhstan noted the importance of the growing attractiveness of the education sector for investors. Over the next 5 years, 11.5 trillion tenge will be allocated to the industry, including 1.3 trillion private investments. The second question at the session was the implementation of the Densaulyq State Healthcare Development Program for 2016-2019 and the project until 2025. The prime minister stressed that the measures taken will improve the medical infrastructure as a whole, reduce the incidence rate and increase the average life expectancy of Kazakhstanis to 75 years in 2025.
  • The prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the plenary session of the Digital Samruk conference on the topic of digitalization of the economy of Kazakhstan. The head of government noted the growing relevance of digitalization of the Kazakhstani economy to ensure its further growth and competitiveness of the country on the world stage.
  • Askar Mamin chaired a meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Development Bank at the Astana International Financial Center. The meeting discussed the results of the work of the Eurasian Development Bank in 2019 and set targets for 2020.
  • Before the meeting, the official opening ceremony of the Bank’s office in the AIFC was held – EDB was the first development bank, which is located in the Astana International Financial Center.
  • The Head of Government held a meeting of the Council on the Transition to Green Economy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting participants reviewed the implementation of one of the Five Social Initiatives of the First President – Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev – the construction of the Saryarka pipeline for gas supply to the capital, northern and central regions of the republic.
  • Askar Mamin took part in an extraordinary session of the maslikhat of Atyrau region, during which the candidacy for the post of akim of the region proposed by the president was supported. The prime minister introduced a new akim Makhambet Dosmukhambetov to the region’s activists.
  • During a meeting with the staff of the Ministry of Energy, Askar Mamin introduced the new Minister of Energy, Nurlan Nogayev.
  • Under the chairmanship of the prime minister, a meeting of the National Commission for Modernization was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin, which summed up the work in 2019 to implement the Nation’s Plan “100 Concrete Steps to Implement the Five Institutional Reforms of the First President –  Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev." The head of government instructed to continue active work on the full and high-quality implementation of the Nation Plan.
