Today in Astana, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Hussein.

The meeting covered the issues of expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of agriculture, livestock breeding, vegetable farming, renewable energy, as well as defense industry and logistics.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Jordan were established in February 1993. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Jordan in January-August 2017 amounted to 253.8 thousand USD, of which 252.4 thousand USD accounts for imports in Kazakhstan. The growth of imports is due to the increase in imports of medicines from Jordan. In the period from 2005 to the first half of 2017, the inflow of investments from Jordan into the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to 10.8 million USD.

The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the promotion and mutual protection of investments was signed on November 29, 2006 in Amman. As of October 1, 2017, 82 legal entities and representative offices with the involvement of Jordanian capital were registered in Kazakhstan.
