Strategic directions for development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 considered at session of EEC Council

The members of the EEC Council considered issues on the functioning of domestic markets, customs and technical regulation, industry and goods labeling.

The most important issue discussed was the discussion of the draft Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025.

Following the discussion, most of Kazakhstan's proposals were agreed upon. The most fundamental positions are planned to be considered by the Heads of State in December 2020.

The parties exchanged views on the issue of the currently developed draft Rules for confirming the country of origin of goods for public procurement purposes and the Rules for maintaining the register of Eurasian industrial products.

These documents are very sensitive in terms of their impact on the conditions of access to public procurement. It is planned that the relevant rules will be approved in December 2020 at the next meeting of the Council.

The most heated discussion was regarding the issue of removing barriers in mutual trade. The issues of restricting access to public procurement are considered.

The next meeting of the EEC Council is scheduled for Sep. 18, 2020.
