Ministry of Commerce of Kazakhstan is preparing a major trade mission to Minsk

Following the talks between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Belarus, it was decided to deepen cooperation between the countries.

The Ministry of Trade and Integration analyzed the structure of Belarusian imports and the current Kazakhstani exports to Belarus.

According to the results of the analysis, a list of 44 commodity items worth about $300 million for the supply of Kazakhstani products to Belarus was identified.

So, for example, metal rolling has the potential for the growth of Kazakhstani exports to the Republic of Belarus.

“Last year, we delivered to Belarus rolled iron and unalloyed steel for $28.5 million. But the total import of this commodity group into Belarus exceeded half a billion dollars. With the technological capabilities of our enterprises, we can increase the supply of metal products at least twice,” said the Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov.

According to the Ministry of Trade, metal rolling has a great potential for Kazakhstani exports to the Republic of Belarus. Our metal pipes can provide over 10% of the needs of Belarus (the total volume of imports of metal pipes in Belarus in 2018 amounted to $312.8 million).

Kazakhstan can also increase deliveries to Belarus of such commodity items as: steel products (including pipes), agricultural products (pasta, rice, confectionery), copper products, building materials, etc.

On behalf of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in order to increase exports to the Belarusian market in January next year, the Ministry of Trade and Integration will organize a trade and economic mission to the Republic of Belarus, headed by the Minister of Trade and Integration Sultanov.
