For the first time in Kazakhstan, summer schools to start working at local universities — Ministry of Education and Science

May 21 at a press conference in the Government’s press center, Vice Minister of Education and Science Bibigul Assylova told about the organization of children's recreation during the summer holidays.

According to Assylova, 2.1 million children will attend school, tent, and country camps, among them more than 900 thousand gifted children and children from large families will attend at the expense of the budget.

“The cost of vouchers varies from 10 thousand to 40 thousand tenge per course of stay in the camp (10 days). Priority and free stay in such organizations are orphans, children from low-income families, with special educational needs, as well as children who have shown the best results in their studies. It is about 625 thousand children. For the first time this year, the national educational database contains all the information about IIN children who will undergo rehabilitation,” said Assylova.

Today, there are 236 camps throughout the country, of which about 143 are under the jurisdiction of local executive bodies and 93 camps are in private ownership. Prices and rates for health services in the camps are approved by local executive bodies and, accordingly, the founders of these organizations.

In the summer period, it is planned to cover 2.8 million (94%) schoolchildren in sections, circles, clubs, excursions and other forms of employment.

At the same time, through employment centers, children will be sent for internships in labor units or enterprises. In general, it is planned to provide employment for about 970 thousand children who will work in labor repair and construction teams, environmental camps, greening teams, school forest districts and enterprises.

“Accounting for children undergoing paid internships in labor groups and enterprises will be carried out by local executive bodies. The payment will depend on the type of work,” said the vice minister.

According to her, for the first time in Kazakhstan, summer schools will start working on the basis of local universities.

“Today more than 10 educational institutions open summer academic schools in various fields,” said Assylova.

Schools will be opened at Gumilyov ENU, Auezov SKSU, TarSU named after Dulati, Financial Academy, KazGUIU (Semey), Al-Farabi KazNU, Amanzholov EKSU and others.

Pupils of summer schools will study languages, IT technology and robotics, biotechnology, entrepreneurship and business management, law, critical thinking and writing, etc.

It is worth noting that such summer schools are successfully practiced at Nazarbayev University, KBTU, AlmaU, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, Summer School at Stanford University Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.
