Kazakhstan proposes measures to regulate mutual trade within EAEU

Today, First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov took part in the regular meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission in Moscow.

The members of the EEC Council addressed issues related to the functioning of domestic markets, customs and technical regulations, international cooperation and industry. Information was heard by the Eurasian Economic Commission on the progress in eliminating exemptions, restrictions and barriers on the EAEU domestic market. The members of the Council noted the need to remove all barriers to the creation of a single market for goods and services.

During the meeting, the current situation on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border was discussed, namely, issues of underestimating the cost of goods, false transit, unreliable indication of goods in shipping documents from the Kyrgyz side. The Kazakh side proposed specific measures to regulate mutual trade and resolve the above issues.

During the EEC Council, the Roadmap for the Development of a Unified System of Customs Transit of Goods to the EAEU was approved. The implementation of this Roadmap will create the basis for the formation of unhindered customs transit of goods through the territories of the EAEU countries, including for which the Russian Federation applies special economic measures.

In order to establish common requirements for new types of nicotine-containing products (products with heated tobacco, vapes, etc.), members of the EEC Council decided to amend the Unified List of Products, for which mandatory requirements are established within the EAEU. Subsequently, the “five” will develop a unified technical regulation for these products.

In general, the past meeting meets the strategic interests of Kazakhstan and will give the necessary impetus for the effective work of the EAEU, will serve as the basis for developing joint guidelines in the future work of the EAEU, including taking into account the development of international relations.
