Yeraly Tugzhanov chairs meeting of Biosafety Council

Today Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov chaired a meeting of the Biosafety Council with the participation of heads of state bodies and leading scientists of the country.

The meeting participants discussed the tasks set by the Head of State in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan on the issues of ensuring the country's biosafety.

They also discussed the development of domestic drugs against COVID-19, carried out by Nazarbayev University AEO, Scientific Center for Anti-Infectious Drugs JSC, Phytochemistry holding, JSC Institute of Fuel, Catalysis and Electrochemistry named after Sokolsky, LLP Research and Production Center for Microbiology and Virology, etc.

Following the meeting of the Council, Tugzhanov instructed:

  • to create a working group to develop proposals to enhance the effectiveness of research and innovation in the field of security against epidemiological challenges;
  • to develop a Comprehensive plan for the implementation of research and innovation work;
  • to make proposals to ensure targeted funding for scientific and innovative projects aimed at ensuring epidemiological safety and the development of new types of drugs for infectious diseases;
  • to analyze and make specific proposals for the development of scientific, personnel, material and technical potential of domestic scientific institutions in the field of biological safety.
