Berdibek Saparbayev visits bereaved families in Korday district

On Sunday, Feb. 9, the Deputy Prime Minister Berdibek Saparbayev visited the families of the victims killed during the riots in the Korday region.

The head of the Government Commission, including the heads of central government bodies, members of Parliament, representatives of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, went to the villages of Sortobe and Masanchi, visited the families of the victims and expressed condolences.

“On behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Government, accept my sincere condolences. We will not leave you in trouble, we will ensure your safety. We will help your families, the state will support you,” Saparbayev said.

Relatives of the victims and local residents asked the authorities to find and punish the perpetrators.

“It was a criminal intent. Strangers walked in, set fire to houses and shook arms over their heads, demanding money and gold. They said go out, your house is on fire. Among them were drunk people,” said the residents present.

The deputy prime minister also inspected residential buildings, social and commercial facilities affected by the riots.

“The Head of State instructed to provide all necessary assistance and support to families. The commission included the First Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Kairbek Uskenbayev. Now experts are assessing the damage that will be repaired in accordance with the current legislation,” Saparbayev assured.

Also, members of the Government Commission took part in mourning events.
