Berdibek Saparbayev instructs to continue work on preventing spread of coronavirus in intensified mode

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the Deputy Prime Minister Berdibek Saparbayev held a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Preventing the Emergence and Spread of Coronavirus in Kazakhstan.

According to the Minister of Healthcare Yelzhan Birtanov, there are currently no cases of coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan. Sanitary and epidemiological control is underway at all checkpoints across the state border with the PRC, during which, since Jan. 6, 2020, 21.8 thousand people have been examined.

“On Feb. 5, 2020, 104 people with a fever were hospitalized, 71 of them have already been released from the hospital. Thirty-three people remain in hospitals, all have been tested for coronavirus — the results are negative,” Birtanov reported.

Eighty-three of our compatriots who were evacuated the day before from Wuhan also remain in quarantine. Laboratory examinations also did not reveal the presence of coronavirus infection in the arrivals.

In turn, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Shahrat Nuryshev said that currently there are 780 citizens of Kazakhstan in the PRC, including 559 students. Today, 427 people asked for help in returning to Kazakhstan, the rest expressed a desire to stay in China. The Foreign Ministry is working through diplomatic channels on the possibility of organizing the flight of our citizens.

Passengers who have tickets for flights to the PRC from Feb. 3, 2020, will be refunded or reissued at the place of purchase. There are no problems in this matter, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Berik Kamaliyev assured.

Also, at the meeting, the Vice Minister of Internal Affairs Alexey Kalaychidi, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Zhandarbek Bekshin, deputy akims of Almaty, East Kazakhstan regions, and the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty reported on the work being done.

Summarizing the results of the meeting, Berdibek Saparbayev outlined several specific tasks to prevent the emergence and spread of coronavirus, noting the need to continue the work of all services in an intensive mode.
