Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a meeting with Chevron President for Exploration and Production in Europe, Eurasia and the Middle East Todd Levy.

At the meeting, issues of further development of cooperation in the framework of joint projects in the oil and gas industry were discussed. Chevron is one of Kazakhstan’s largest oil production partners, participating in Tengiz, Karachaganak projects, expanding the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.

In 2018, TCO oil production amounted to 28.6 million tons.

Todd Levy said that in 2019 it is expected to over-fulfill planned targets for oil production. In turn, the implementation of the Future Expansion Project – the Wellhead Pressure Management Project will allow increasing production by 12 million tons per year by 2022. In matters of project implementation, special attention is paid to increasing the share of Kazakhstani employees. More than 45 thousand Kazakhstanis are involved in the TCO expansion project, which is 91% of the total number of employees.

Summing up the meeting, Head of Government Askar Mamin noted the importance of developing local production in the oil and gas and oilfield services industries. Localization of the production of equipment and machinery, oil and gas engineering will be an additional impetus for the development of industrialization and will create new jobs.

The parties stressed the value of cooperation and expressed interest in continuing the strategic partnership both in the framework of the continuation of existing and implementation of new joint projects. Against the background of growth of economic indicators in Kazakhstan and ongoing work to improve the investment climate, there are great prospects for further building up interaction.
