Askar Mamin and Anton Siluanov held meeting of Kazakhstan-Russia intergovernmental commission in Kazan

Twentieth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia was held in Kazan. The co-chairman from the Kazakh side is the First Vice Premier of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, from the Russian side — the First Deputy Prime Minister Anton Siluanov.

At the meeting, the development of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic affairs, the fuel and energy complex, the peaceful use of atomic energy, industry, transport, agriculture, health care, environmental protection, education and science, communications, information technology and mass communications , culture, tourism, interregional and cross-border relations, as well as the interaction of business circles of the two countries were discussed.

First Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin noted the success of relations between Kazakhstan and Russia at all levels.

In 2017, a significant increase in the volume of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation was recorded, which increased by 34.1% and amounted to $17.5 billion. Positive dynamics of mutual trade persists, indicating that there are opportunities to increase trade turnover to $20 billion.

Russia is one of the main investment partners of Kazakhstan, the inflow of investments over the past 12 years (2005–2017) was $12 billion. The inflow of direct investment from the Russia to Kazakhstan for the first half of 2018 increased 1.5 times compared to the same period 2017 — up to $821 million

There are 50 investment projects totaling $3.6 billion at the active implementation stage that will create more than 12,000 new jobs.

During the meeting, it was noted that one of the key areas of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia is interregional and cross-border cooperation.

At the end of the 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the co-chairs Mamin and Siluanov signed the Protocol of the 20th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission.

As part of his working visit to Kazan, Mamin held talks with President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

At the meeting, the parties noted the dynamic cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan, including in the trade and economic sphere, emphasizing interest in expanding economic and investment ties.

At the end of 2017, foreign trade turnover increased by 1.7 times and amounted to more than $700 million. At the end of the first half of 2018, the indicator of mutual trade increased by 67% and amounted to almost $400 million. In 2018 there are already opportunities to achieve the volume of mutual trade up to $ 1 billion

Mamin and Minnikhanov noted the need to develop cooperation in the field of engineering, transport and logistics, petrochemicals, agriculture, IT technologies, small aircraft, etc.

Mamin and President Minnikhanov signed an Action Plan for the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan.
