Complex plan for development of Astana considered at a meeting in the Government

August 15 in Ukimet Uyі the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev chaired a meeting on the issues of the draft Complex Plan for the Development of Astana for 2019-2023.

At the meeting, the Complex Plan for Compact Development of Astana with provision of engineering and transport infrastructure for 2019-2023 was considered. In particular, the issues of construction of housing, secondary education, health and culture buildings, as well as the development of engineering, communication and road transport infrastructure, including the project of a new transport system (LRT), were discussed. A special attention was paid to the issues of gas supply and modernization of heat, electricity, city improvement and industrial parks.

In order to create favorable conditions for increasing the social and economic potential of the capital, on behalf of the Head of State, the Akimat drafted the Comprehensive Plan for Compact Development of Astana. Over the past 20 years, the gross regional product of the city has grown almost 224 times, reaching more than 5 trillion tenge (in 1997 — 25.7 billion tenge), which in terms of per capita is twice the average republican figure. The annual volume of investments increased 50 times, to 956.9 billion tenge (in 1997 — 19.3 billion tenge).
