Askar Mamin inspects the implementation of Nurly Zhol and SPIID in Mangystau region

On September 5-6 First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin inspected the implementation of the Nurly Zhol State Program and the Program of Industrial and Innovative Development during his working trip to Mangystau region.

As part of the trip to the region, Askar Mamin visited the ferry complex in the port of Kuryk and held a meeting on the construction of the second launch complex. Akim of Mangystau region Yeraly Tugzhanov took part in the meeting.

At present, work is in progress at 114 port facilities. The objects of the automobile component of the ferry complex are being built, the dredging of the marine area under the pier is being completed. Works are underway to erect western and eastern fencing malls.

Project leaders reported on measures to ensure the stable operation of the port, commissioning of the pier, the completion of the installation of the lifting and transitional bridge for the car ferry complex. The construction of an additional berth for large-sized cargo will increase the capacity of the Kuryk port to 7 million tons. As of today, more than 166 ship entries have been made, above 756 thousand tons of cargo have been handled at the harbour. By the end of this year, it is expected to hand over 1 million 300 thousand tons of cargo, the next year - up to 3 million tons of cargo and about 15 thousand cars.

In total, during the construction of the second start-up complex of the ferry port of Kuryk, about a thousand people have been employed.

The First Deputy Prime Minister underlined that the projects of the Nurly Zhol program, which are of strategic importance not only for the region but also for the country as a whole, are being implemented in Mangystau region. Among them are the construction of a ferry complex in the port of Kuryk, the Beineu-Akzhigit and Shetpe-Aktau roads.

Askar Mamin noted the importance of building a ferry complex Kuryk in terms of increasing the country's transit and export potential and increasing competitiveness.

"The railway component of the ferry complex Kuryk was completed in December 2016. The task is to put in commission the automobile transition at the end of the current year," the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan stressed.

Noting that “the commissioning of the second stage of the port of Kuryk will allow the all-year transit of goods along the Trans-Caspian corridor”, A. Mamin stressed the need to “complete all works before the end of this year”.

"Mangystau region has a significant transport and logistics potential.The Head of State pays much attention to the development of the Mangystau region. On behalf of the President, new industrial enterprises are opening in the region, projects are being implemented in the transport and tourism industries, and new jobs are being created. All this ensures sustainable development of the region's economy," A. Mamin noted.

Also, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan familiarized himself with the progress of the Beineu-Akzhigit-Tazhen road reconstruction. Reconstruction of the highway began in July this year. The second line has a length of 85 km, begins in the village of Beineu and runs to the border with Uzbekistan.

Following the inspection of the highway, built under the program Nurly Zhol, A. Mamin held an on-site meeting, during which reports of the heads of contract organizations were heard.

Currently, the work on the reconstruction of the road is in full swing. Over 300 people are hired as personnel and about 150 units of equipment are used at the sites.

The First Deputy Prime Minister noted the significance of this road as an important infrastructure facility.

“This is an important regional project.It will facilitate the formation of a transit road flow from the Central Asian countries through the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk towards the Caucasus, Turkey and Europe,” A. Mamin said and set the task of “high-quality construction of the road and putting it on schedule”.

During his stay in the region, A. Mamin also got acquainted with the work of the projects implemented within the framework of the SPIID. In particular, these are plants for the production of fibreglass pipes, reinforced concrete products and an enterprise for the production of switchboard equipment and the repair of power transformers. The production of these plants has a high export potential.
