Ziyabek Kabyldinov calls on Kazakhstanis to write the history of every settlement

A well-known Kazakh scientist, Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Sh. Ualikhanov EC MES RK Ziyabek Kabyldinov, during his speech at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modernization 3.0: Ruhani Zhangyru", appealed to his compatriots to write the history of their native village or region.

In particular, the scientist is opposed to reprinting the history of Kazakhstan from year to year.

"Unfortunately, in Kazakhstan we publish the history of Kazakhstan in five volumes for a certain number of decades: the history from edition to edition is reprinted, there is no regional component, there is no novelty," Z. Kabyldinov said.

Instead, his suggestion is to write the history of individual settlements.

"Because the story of love for a great motherland - the Republic of Kazakhstan - begins with a love for their small homeland. Without knowing, without studying the history of your village, rural district, administrative district, region, you will never know the whole history of Kazakhstan. In this regard, I urge all Kazakhstanis to write the history of their settlement, in which they were born," the scientist said.

As Z. Kabyldinov noted, his idea should be realized thanks to the "Tugan Zher" program.

"It is necessary to instruct rural akims to mobilize professional historians, local ethnographers, specialists of different directions, informers of the older generation, and write the history of their auls. We, the Institute of History and Ethnology, are ready to provide them with an approximate structure of descriptions from ancient times to modern times," Z. Kabyldinov suggested.

Talking about the content of these historical essays, the scientist noted that they will reflect the history, customs and traditions of the settlement, as well as the events of 1920, when our country experienced a demographic strike, the problem of hunger, political repression, and participation of Kazakhstanis in the Second World War. In addition, Z. Kabyldinov said that he already had written the history of his native land.

"In 2014 I wrote the history of my small aul in the Omsk region. It is a beautiful and elegant book. It turned out that even in the Central Manors of the former collective farms, state farms and regional centers of Russia there are no such books. I’ve made the first step, our initiative was supported by the ethnographers of other Omsk auls. I think something like this should appear in Kazakhstan," the scientist concluded.
