Kuryk port is an important point on the logistical map of Eurasia - MID RK

Today during a briefing in the Government's press center, Vice Minister of Investment and Development Roman Sklyar spoke about the strategic importance of the Kuryk port for the transport and logistics potential of Kazakhstan and the Eurasian continent as a whole.

"Indeed, the ports of Kuryk and Aktau are the key links of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. I would like to highlight the role of the Kuryk port, as it is not just a local infrastructure facility, but a new point on the logistics map of Eurasia. There will be transshipment of 4 million tons of ferry cargo, and also in December this year new capacity to transship 2 million tons of road freight will be introduced, since a new car ferry will be built," Roman Sklyar said.

Thus, he said, the problematic issue with the ferry capacities of the Aktau port will be decided this year.

"Accordingly, cargo that pass by the Trans-Caspian route follows from China via Kuryk to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey - the exits to the Black Sea ports, will pass through Kuryk. Therefore, we attach great importance to it and during its operation we hope that it will reach the target indicators that are planned," R. Sklyar noted.
