Construction of second tracks on the Almaty-Shu railway line is planned to be completed in December 2017 – MID RK

Today during a briefing in the press center of the Government, the Vice Minister for Investment and Development Roman Sklyar spoke about the current construction of the second railway lines of Almaty-Shu, as well as the planned date for completion of the work.

"The total length of the Almaty-Shu section is more than 300 kilometers, but here it is necessary to perform work on the construction of second tracks on the length of 111 kilometers. If in December last year the first completed launch complex was 52 km, then this year the second tracks will be laid for 59 kilometers. This will increase the capacity more than twice, but here another important factor, such as increasing the patency of high-speed trains should be noted," Roman Sklyar said.

He noted that the second way will allow for a higher quality to organize high-speed passenger traffic. In December of this year, ongoing work will be completed, and the site will operate from Almaty to Shu, as a two-track section with all the additional loads.
