Head of the Department for Ensuring the Operation of Courts at the Supreme Court Nurserik Sharipov, at a press conference in the Government's press center told about the results of the introduction of new rules for the formation of the judiciary within the framework of the implementation of the Nation’s Plan "100 Concrete Steps".

Nurserik Sharipov reported that in the framework of the implementation of the Nation’s Plan, qualification requirements and mechanisms for selecting candidates for judicial positions were significantly tightened. For them, psychological testing and polygraph testing have been introduced. In addition, the age limit for candidates for judges has been increased from 25 to 30 years, and the compulsory two-year experience in the legal profession has been revised.

"In the current year, 191 candidates have been selected and already appointed to the position of a judge of local courts under the new rules. Now the judges confirm their qualification after the first year of work and subsequently every five years. This year, 140 professional judges were evaluated. In 2016, the assessment was conducted for 1220 judges. The main part of the judiciary confirmed its professional competence," said Nurserik Sharipov.

At the same time, the Academy of Justice is functioning successfully under the Supreme Court.

"In the current year, the first graduates of the Academy from 53 people took place. Also, starting in 2017, the graduates of the Academy undertake to participate in the competition for a judge's office within four years. We prepare them specially for this," the speaker said.
