Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev discussed cooperation issues with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Kazakhstan S. Steil

Today in Ukimet Uyi the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Kazakhstan Shawn Steil.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including further development of the business partnership, holding the Business Council of Kazakhstan and Canada, strengthening and diversifying trade and investment ties, and strengthening cultural and humanitarian relations.

In addition, issues of facilitating the visa regime, increasing mutual tourist flow and implementing the Kazakhstan-Canadian pilot program for Kazakhstani children hockey training were discussed.

In the first half of 2017, there is a revival of the dynamics of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Canada, which was supported by a steady economic growth, which is noted in both countries. Thus, according to the customs authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for January-May of 2017, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $242.9 million, which is 2.8 times (or 180%) more than in the same period in 2016.
