MID RK: Transit capacity of the ferry complex in the port of Kuryk to be brought to maximum levels by 2020

Transit capacity of the ferry complex in the port of Kuryk is planned to be brought to maximum levels by 2020. The Vice Minister for Investment and Development Roman Sklyar told this at a press conference following the meeting of the Government.

R. Sklyar noted that the railway ferry is the first launch complex of the Kuryk port - was put into operation in 2016 and its capacity is 4 million tons. The introduction of the second phase, which will be completed in December this year, will allow transportation of trucks and add another 2 million tons of throughput capacity.

According to the speaker, at the moment about 70 workplaces are organized in the first phase, more than half of the workers are local residents, after the introduction of the second phase, about 250 people will work at the facility, with local personnel being mainly involved.

"The capacity of the ferry complex in the port of Kuryk is 6 million tons. This ferry complex is favorably distinguished by its location, because there is a possibility of transshipment, including dangerous cargoes. The Borzhakty-Ersai railway line, which is approaching the ferry complex, also gives a high throughput, so we expect that all ferry capacity will be almost 90% used by 2020," R. Sklyar said.
