Bakytzhan Sagintayev meets with the Minister of State for Trade and Investment of Great Britain Greg Hands

Today in Ukimet Uyi, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Minister of State for Trade and Investment of Great Britain Greg Hands.

During the meeting, issues of expansion of trade and economic cooperation in the sphere of subsoil use, innovations and technologies, renewable energy sources, agriculture, health and education were discussed.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Great Britain were established on January 19, 1992. Currently, Great Britain is one of the five leading countries in terms of direct investment in Kazakhstan (more than $12 billion since 2005 and $684.8 million or 3.3% of total FDI In 2016).

In January-April this year, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $422.6 million, which is 26.4% higher than in the previous year ($334.3 million). Exports increased by 44.3% to $331.7 million ($229.9 million), imports decreased by 12.9% to $90.8 million. ($104.3 million).

More than 800 legal entities, branches and representative offices with British participation are registered in Kazakhstan.
